A deeper dive into my most viral thread on the dying culture of NFTs
On April 21st I booted up my laptop, brewed a nice iced coffee, and began to write a thread on the dying culture of NFTs.
My style of writing is a bit unique as I always take a devils advocate approach to things - especially Crypto and NFTs. This resulted in the thread below which went viral, racking millions of views from people inside and outside Crypto Twitter.
What is NFT Culture?
After being involved in the NFT and Crypto space for the past 2 years, I have seen trends, projects, memes, and people, come and go. People often mistake these things and classify them as culture which they are not!
NFT Culture is what built the NFT space to it’s peak in 2021. Without those core memories, actions and occurrences, the NFT space wouldn’t have been what it is today.
Yes, evolution is inevitable in every industry but simply forgetting and shifting from the times that brought pure joy, excitement and laughter to pure greed and selfishness, is unhealthy and unsustainable.
People will assume I’m resisting change and that 2021 was not sustainable.
Understand this. I only hope this space can once again become enjoyable to us and to newer people - not some money hungry bloodbath where everyone fights everyone - this is not sustainable!

My friends wale.swoosh published a thread countering my thread which was a great read. He made some really good points to why NFT is in-fact not dying, but striving.

Many good points are made in Wale’s thread and I always appreciate people who counter my tweets. This allows for deeper discussion from Crypto Twitter and really brings eyes to this manner.
Conclusion
At the end of the day, it is what it is.
If NFT culture dies than once again I have called it in advance. But, if NFT culture strives than we can adapt and move on. Either way, the core memories made in this space will always be in my heart and mind, as I will always cherish them.

Great thread Sage.
However, I do believe NFTs are far from dead, they are just evolving.
With new use cases and innovations being developed every day, the NFT space is constantly growing and changing.
It's an exciting time to be a part of it!
